Rajiv Vaidya

Rajiv Vaidya is Head of Manufacturing Science & Technology at Andelyn since January 2022. Rajiv’s team support onboarding of new client projects, new equipment, new processes, tech transfer and PPQ activities in GMP area. Rajiv was also instrumental in bringing Andelyn’s semi-automated fill system online. Rajiv also managed validation team during Andelyn GMP site buildout. Rajiv Vaidya came to Andelyn from a small Gene Therapy company (Grace Science, Inc), where he oversaw process development of a AAV9 based gene therapy produced using suspension HEK293 transient transfection process at 200L. Prior to that Rajiv supported facility buildout, expansion and process development activities at Microbiome and Plasmid manufacturing CDMO Arranta Bio (Gainesville FL and Watertown, MA). Prior to that Rajiv worked at gene therapy CDMO Florida Biologix / Brammer Bio / Thermo Fisher’s Patheon’s Viral Vector Service division (Alachua, FL), where he managed several departments over course of his tenure, upstream manufacturing, downstream and buffer manufacturing, process engineering and technical operation. Rajiv and his team played vital role in facility buildout and expansion of Brammer’s Florida site (suspension reactors up to 1000L scale, 48 x HypeStack36 as well as iCelli500). Rajiv has also supported several adherent and suspension transient transfection projects. Rajiv has also scaled up Sf9- baculovirus based AAV production platform. Rajiv was the key player to implement Pall technologies (Pall Single Use Bioreactors and Mixers) at Brammer. Rajiv’s team transferred suspension process from Sartorius Bioreactors to Pall Bioreactors. Prior to Brammer Rajiv worked at Meridian Life Science (Memphis, TN, a subsidiary of Meridian Bioscience, Cincinnati, OH), where he managed production of native viruses, recombinant proteins, large scale anti-sera and antibody. Rajiv also did tech transfer of a E. coli based process at Meridian. Prior to that Rajiv worked in academia (Miller School of Medicine, Miami, FL; North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC and University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN). Rajiv completed his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate in Microbiology from India.
